Nokia E63: Functionality versus Form

CEBU, Philippines ----- I had my mobile upgrade yesterday. While Sony Erickson has become a household name, I sourly miss old pal Nokia. Lacking patience in reading a User’s Manual,  a complex model was not in my agenda.

With WIFI zones almost everywhere, a gadget which will suit the increasing need for virtual presence was the goal. Nokia E63's hi-tech features, business functions and alluring modern-look, took my fancy. It's not pricey and it seemed perfect for my needs. And so I thought!

While I got amazed surfing the net in-between meetings, clouds of regret dampen noticing at hardly readable sms without my +100 reading glasses. It's peculiar for a gadget, promoted for businessmen and executives would require a 20/20 vision!

Reading and composing sms without eyeglasses is simply impossible. All the other features I love about it became secondary and purely aesthetic. LESSON LEARNED: Test functionality on a real model, not on a prototype. Clearly, this reinforces I am getting old. Ouch!
