CEBU, Philippines ----- Much has been written about weblogs, it being an offshoot of modern journalism. Five years back, I surmised how much extent an author divulges about one's life. Can one find home in an environment of strangers in this planet called blogosphere. At least, that is how we coined it.
Functionality versus form was the easiest to tackle. Like any author, an idea is more important than a medium. Soon I discovered that the collective blog community is interconnected and networked by e-marketers through permalinks.
The link "to follow" is a fan page. It does not serve an indispensable function. However, popularity and the need to impress an audience are gnawing issues. I reckon majority feel pressed to write on a regular basis and they ransack topics out of oblivion.
The web is a double-edged sword. Its functionality is relative. A writer's pen, albeit in its digital form, is a mighty weapon. It can cloud a spirit or spring forth inspiration. Yet, too much of anything may preoccupy and rub us of things that truly matter.
In my opinion, we don't need to be trapped with the web gustiness the e-marketers are convincing us to believe. The stats might eventually monetize but it should not be at the expense of inner peace. After all, e-commerce is a thriving business platform.
I am groping and slightly adjusted, yet refusing to be coerced with the flow, it would take a while for me to be a certified blogosphere citizen.
i'll include you in my blog links. nice one aries :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks 'ville. Although after much cajoling from friends, I’d put back the “Follow Me” widget. But isn’t it more fun to dance as if no one’s watching? LOL.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to blogosphere Sis! Like you, it took years for me to finally decide to focus on an online journal. Would you believe that I've been keeping 2-3 blogs since 2005? But none went past 5 entries.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started project 365 this year, I thought it was a tall order and I wasn't sure if I could maintain it...with God's grace I'm now in my 200+ post and still going strong. I do backslide from time to time but I make sure to pick up pace once I'm able to get back on track.
Our blogs would surely be a great memory keeper over the years. Keep it up Sis!
Sis, project 365 is something I cannot do despite the modern day multi-tasking. I'd lose the steam in the middle of a third sentence. Haha!
ReplyDeleteSuffice it to say that I admire your deligence and persistence. Meaning.....you're the pro; I'm an amateur!
One day, your kids will get nostalgic viewing their candid moments and reading their baby victories (from the eyes of a dotting mom).
Conclusion Sis, maintain the steam. Likened to a 20k Run, you're almost at the finishing line :-)
